TERRORISM ![]()      The Afghan terrorists, the ones who ritualistically murder women for reading books or going outdoors without a man, never had a better friend and ally than they do in "Taliban Jack" Layton. He must realize that pulling NATO forces out of Afghanistan allows the Taliban to return to power and to restore the terrorist training camps used by groups like Al-Qaeda and Hezbollah. And with neighboring Pakistan becoming a nuclear power, there is a realistic chance that the Taliban could become armed with nuclear weapons. Islamic terrorists have threatened to attack Canada for years. Is that not enough reason to confront the terrorists in their own backyard? Canadian soldiers joined the military knowing they could see active combat, and they are trained to serve as our national defense forces. Not allowing them to finish their mission for the sake of sparing a few lives is not a humanitarian act; it is a dishonour to everything for which our soldiers and Canada's military heritage stand. It is like Taliban Jack puts the rights of suicide bombers ahead of the rights of Canadian civilians who don't want planes hitting buildings and bombs exploding on subways within our borders. Does Osama himself have to crash a plane into Jack Layton's house, killing Jack's entire family, before Jack wakes up and starts to take these guys seriously? Or does the NDP Party just favour some extremist Islamic organizations more than others?      Canada is a multinational country, but I'll be damned if we ever grant the Taliban or Hezbollah equal cultural status under our current Constitution. |
