Welcome to give-a-buck.com, the island of numismatic sanity in a growing sea of internet BS. Numismatic collecting is a great hobby and is still one of the most popular of hobbies in North America. Since many people owe their livelihoods to it, there are inherent biases when dealing with certain members who may be more interested in their bottom lines than in providing help and information to fellow collectors. The internet was supposed to give the average collector the power to take back the hobby, but there is both reluctance from the consumer and resistance to change from traditional areas. Internet-based auctions should have brought collectors with similar interests together, but this has not been the case. The collecting community is still very fractured and timid. This website is my contribution to both the growing internet landscape and my favorite hobby. Within these pages, you will find many categories of collecting material with pictures and grades for almost everything listed. While I don't consider this accomplishment unique, there is a surprising lack of openness by other dealers and internet auction sellers. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but it often tells more about the person who made it than about the item it portrays. Likewise, grading standards have become more of a personal statement and are no longer acceptible at face value. By providing both pictures and grades, I am giving you the tools you need to assess my overall fairness. Still, there is no substitute for good service, and whether you are placing an order or asking a question, you will receive an answer quickly and honestly.
